Bangkok Marriott Marquis Queen’s Park, the landmark hotel in the heart of Thailand’s capital city, is delighted to have been recognized by the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration (BMA) for its waste management efforts. In a recent citywide initiative, the hotel achieved the “First Runner-Up” award in the Hotel category, out of 18 groups representing Khlong Toei District for its commitment to minimizing its waste and reducing its environmental impact.
The BMA’s annual waste separation competition spanned 50 districts across the Thai capital and a wide range of businesses and organizations. The project aimed to promote waste separation, cooperation and knowledge-sharing, while recognizing the value of waste as a renewable, reusable resource.
Bangkok Marriott Marquis Queen’s Park Hotel was highly commended by the BMA for achieving high scores under its “Zero-Waste Organization” checklist, which comprised five categories: 1)
Waste & Environmental Management Policies; 2) Measures, Criteria, & Operational Guidelines; 3) Initiatives to Promote Waste Reduction & Separation at the Source; 4) Campaign Strategies for Communication & Cooperation; and 5) Management Processes & Outcomes.
