The Sukhothai Bangkok warmly invites you to join us for our annual charity event, “Bangkok Uncovered & Beyond Vol.5 – Christmas Market,” on December 14-15, 2024. This year marks the fifth anniversary of our initiative, dedicated to supporting the preservation and revitalization of endangered communities in Bangkok through sustainable tourism.
In partnership with the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration (BMA) and the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), we have focused on six key communities—Koh Sarn Chao, Bang Lamphu, Hua Takhe, Bang Kradi, Ban Bu, and Nang Loeng. These communities represent rich cultural histories that are slowly fading away. Our goal is to bring these cultures back to life by improving local livelihoods and promoting sustainable practices.
In addition to these six core communities, we are thrilled to welcome more participants to this year’s event, including Talad Noi, Hala Market at Charoenkrung 103, Klong Ladmayom Market, Taladname Song Klong in Taling Chan, Bangkok Dee Jung, Talad Mod Ta Noi, Lumpoo Community, and others. This expansion reflects our commitment to making the event a broader celebration of Bangkok’s cultural diversity.
This year, we are also opening our doors to private companies interested in showcasing their products. By participating, companies can connect with a diverse audience while supporting community-driven social projects.
Attendees can look forward to a variety of engaging activities and experiences, such as:
- Creative Thai arts and crafts workshops led by community artisans, featuring sustainable kites, hand embroidery, paper crafts, and more.
- Traditional performances and crafts, including banana trunk carving, vintage stone powder flower garlands, and Mon music and dance.
- Culinary demonstrations, where you can learn secret recipes from local grandmothers, such as golden threads and kanom Jak.
- Shopping opportunities for unique gifts and delicious food, including Mon caramel and mung bean marzipan.
- Special offers from The Sukhothai Bangkok, including room, food & beverage, and spa packages.
- Community auction featuring rare artifacts and handmade items, such as bronze knives.
- Exhibits and showcases from various sponsors, presenting a wide range of products and services.
All proceeds from the event will be dedicated to supporting essential community projects, including a children’s library, playground, study center, and museum refurbishment. After covering event costs, every penny will go towards these impactful initiatives, making a lasting difference in the lives of local residents.
We anticipate welcoming around 1000 guests per day, and your participation will not only enrich your own experience but also contribute significantly to the betterment of these communities. Together, we can make a meaningful impact.
