The Advance Awards recognise the most influential global Australians at a Gala Awards ceremony held annually in Sydney attended by the Prime Minister and Industry leaders. The Awards include industry / category awards, an overall winner, and special awards.

The Overall Advance Global Australian Award winner – selected from the winners of the categories above.
Global Alumni – This Award recognises the achievements of an alumnus of an Australian University who is not an Australian citizen.
Global Icon and Global Impact Awards – Awarded according to judges’ discretion.

- Individuals may nominate themselves or others (i.e. self-nomination accepted)

- Nominations for the 2019 Awards will close on 1 Mar 2019
Information required for nomination includes:
- Name, Gender, Job Title, Company, Email address, Relationship to Australia, University Attended, Category, Why they should win the Award, Biography of nominee, Relevant links to videos or presentations, References (2)
SELECTION CRITERIA
Award nominees are evaluated against five (5) main criteria:
- Demonstrated excellence in their field.
- Demonstrated innovation, leadership and entrepreneurship. Extent to which impact was achieved by conceiving of and performing work in new and creative ways.
- Demonstrated significant impact or contribution in their relevant fields.
- Capacity for innovation to contribute to a more socially and economically inclusive Australia.
- Demonstrated capacity to act as an inspirational Global Australian role model abroad.
Judges also give consideration to:
- Personal, academic and professional achievements.
- Contribution to the Australian and global communities.
- Voluntary work beyond paid employment.
- Nature and length of activity or service.
- Availability and commitment to promote Advance and the Award in the year(s) following their award at a minimum of two events in the year following.
- Availability and commitment to contribute to the mentoring of a university student for a 12 month period.
- While no upper age limit is stipulated, preference will be given to those who have made and are still making a major contribution in their field.

ELIGIBILITY
Advance Global Australian Awards*
- Individuals may nominate themselves or others
- Nominees must be Australian citizens or Australian residents
- Nominees must demonstrate significant global impact in their industry
- Nominees must have lived overseas at some point in their career (we are including repatriates)
- Awards will not be granted posthumously
- Industry awards will not be granted to retirees, must still be functioning within their industry
- Each applicant can submit applications in more than one category
- Unsuccessful nominees may re-nominate in subsequent years
- Awardees cannot receive a second award in the same award category, but can be considered for recognition in a separate category in following years
- Groups of people or couples will normally not be eligible though in exceptional cases the selection panel reserves the right to consider such nominations
- Selection panel reserves the right to move nominees across categories as they see fit
- Current members of the Advance staff, Advance Board of Directors and Global Advisory Council are not eligible
- All nominees will be considered for the overall Advance Global Australian Award without exception.
Advance Global Alumni Award
- Individuals may nominate themselves or others
- Nominees must be alumni of an Australian university, and a non-Australian citizen or resident
- Nominees must live outside of Australia at least half of the year
- Awards will not be granted posthumously
- Each applicant can submit applications in more than one category.
- Unlike the Advance Global Australian Awards where individuals are recognised in eight categories, only one overall Advance Global Alumni Award will be awarded
- Unsuccessful nominees may re-nominate in subsequent years
- Groups of people or couples will normally not be eligible though in exceptional cases the selection panel reserves the right to consider such nominations eligible
- Selection panel reserves the right to move nominees across categories as they see fit
- Current members of the Advance staff, Advance Board of Directors and Global Advisory Council are not eligible.
